Vulcan's automata

Mechanical watchdogs and bull-like machinery, golden maids and automatic bellows, wheel-equipped tripods which can move around, artificial singers and sirens, bronze giants and sentient vessels: ancient sources are full of automata or daidala. These were mechanical constructions capable of moving as living beings, and often also capable of superior functions such as singing, speech, intelligence.

If you want to add these elements to your Custodes’ adventures, consider that these beings were traditionally attributed to the arts of the god Vulcan, his Cyclops helpers and his most experienced initiates, such as the famous Daedalus. Other historical characters, such as Hero of Alexandria, are famous inventors who are truly capable of building steam engines, mechanisms for astrological observation and automatic weapons.
